Some general advice from Wästberg at Christmastime: light a fire. If you can’t light a big fire, light a little fire. Even candles are usually enough to create a relaxed feeling. If you have received a package marked “Holocene. Intimate illuminations from Wästberg,” for Christmas, congratulations. Its contents are about as far from an ordinary candlestick as it’s possible to get. So too the resultant relaxed feeling.
Wästberg worked with some of the world’s leading architects and designers to develop Holocene (just like we do when we develop our electric lamps), most recently Ilse Crawford, David Chipperfield and lngegerd Råman. Since we also did our utmost to acquire the highest-quality materials, it seems natural to pass on a few tips on how to maintain them and their finish:
The material from which the Holocene range is made is mostly genuine brass, steel or aluminium. All of these darken naturally with age. Brass should be polished regularly with brass polish. Clean steel and aluminium with a mild soap solution, rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Regardless of the material, never put a Holocene product in a dishwasher. (During the Christmas season, it’s usually hard to fit anything extra into the dishwasher, anyway.)
